The Holy Spirit Lets Us See Heaven
(Ac7:54-56; Rev4:1-11)
God is the God of revelation.
He reveals Himself in His time and in His way, and
While He opens eyes to see
He also closes them to keep in darkness (2Ki6:17-18).
Faith is seeing the Lord in heaven (Ps123:1, 146:8) and
The life of this faith is only looking to heaven, storing up one’s most precious things there and testifying the things to come.
Because the human eye is a sensory organ that reacts to light and induces action,
Vision is extremely important.
Yet at times, people have difficulty seeing what it right in front of their nose,
While at other times they are glad to not have seen some things.
The Bible discusses visible things and invisible things (Col1:16):
The visible being — man;
The invisible beings — God, angels, souls, demons;
The visible heaven — the first heaven, the heaven of the expanse (Ge1:1, 6-8);
The invisible heaven — the third heaven, the new heaven (2Co12:2; Rev21:1) etc.
The ancestor Adam ate the forbidden fruit and sinned (Ge3:4-6) for
He fell into the devil’s temptation of opening his eyes and be like God (Ge3:5).
While all men opened their eyes to culture (Ge3:7) thereafter,
Their spiritual eyes were closed (Is6:10; Rm11:8).
Lot who chose the land that he saw as good (Ge13:10-11)
Barely escaped Sodom from the burning sulfur (Ge19:23-25).
Among the 12 spies who went into the promised land,
Those who gave an unfavorable report on the land could not step into the land (Nu14) while
Joshua, who gave a favorable report on it, in whom was the Spirit, stepped into it (Nu27:18).
Nevertheless, the countless wonders and works that the Israelites witnessed,
The commands of the LORD given to them that gave light to their eyes (Ps19:8) and
The seers (prophets), the eyes of Israel, could not keep them from their corruption because
All men since Adam became spiritually blind because of sin.
Yet there was a prophecy regarding a day when the eyes of the blind will see (Is35:5), and that
They will see their Maker, the King of glory (Is17:7, 33:17), and
The Temple of Jerusalem be strengthened (Is33:20).
Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days,” because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body (Jn2:19-21),
He would open the spiritual eyes of all men (Lk4:18).
As such, He gave sight to the man blind from birth whom
He commanded to wash from the Pool of Siloam (Jn9:1-7).
In spite of seeing many signs, however, the people and even the disciples (Mt17:8; Jn12:37-40)
Did not recognized Him (Lk24:16) as their eyes remained closed.
As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that:
1) Heaven opened and His spirit was received (Lk23:46);
2) He judged the devil who was blinded by vanity (Is14:12-15; Eze28:12-17); and
3) His death — redeemed all men’s sin and
His redeeming blood — cleansed the sins of all men to open their eyes (He9:22).
He resurrected and entered the true heaven (He9:24).
He sat on the heavenly throne and He is the Lamb of God who has seven eyes (Rev4:5, 5:4) for
He knows all things.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of revelation (1Co2:9-10) who
Lets those who restored their spiritual vision by the blood of Yeshua
See heaven, Him who sits on the throne, and the gates of heaven open
(Mt16:18-19; Ac7:55-56; Rev3:8, 4:1-2).
The man of the Spirit sets his mind on things above, not on earthly things (Col3:1-2),
Putting to death his earthly nature (Col3:5).
He testifies the resurrection of Yeshua Christ and His kingship like he saw, and
Through the open doors of heaven (Rev3:8, 4:1), that is, the church (Mt16:18-19),
He stores up all his precious treasures in heaven (Mt6:19-21)
So that he would surely return to the Father’s house.
O Lord,
Open my eyes to always see heaven and
Let my thoughts always be on heavenly things! Amen.
