My Peace I Give To You
(Jn14:25-31)
God is the God of peace (2Co13:11).
In Him is peace and
From Him comes peace.
Faith is longing for Him, and
The life of faith is about receiving His peace fully and giving it to others.
While peace is the greatest means for greetings, wish or blessing as everyone want is,
Curse is not having one's grey head go down to the grave in peace (1Ki2:6).
The time we live in is often referred to as perhaps the most anxious time in history
Due to the state of economy, politics, national security, terrorism etc.
Thus many people today are suffering from anxiety and depression.
In spite of the face that the plans that God has for man are
To prosper him and not to harm him, plans for peace (Jer29:11),
All men battle against anxiety and fear since Adam sinned (Ge3:4-6, 10) because of
The origin of sin, the devil (1Jn3:8), and
Judgement and punishment await all (2Pe2:4).
After Cain sinned, he suffered from the fear of death and of others (Ge4:14-15),
But because he pleaded to God, he received a mark of salvation.
Abraham was called the father of faith (Ge22:2-12) for
He peacefully carried out the providence of sacrificing his only son on the mount of Moriah as
He believed that God would provide - Jehovah Jireh (Ge22:8, 14).
God delivered his descendants, Israel, when they were at the peak of their toil (Ex2:23-24) as
He promised to give them the land of Canaan ” Moriah and Jerusalem (Dt12:10):
Jerusalem (jireh-shalom) refers to the "promised peace.
The Temple of Jerusalem where the ark that travelled
Finally came to rest peacefully (1Ch6:34; 2Ch6:4) was also where
Those who pray for Jerusalem were promised to receive peace (Ps122:6; Is66:12-14) for
That is where the name of God was and sacrifice was given to Him (2Ch6:5).
According to the prophecies and the covenants,
Yeshua came as the king of Salem, the Prince of Peace (Ps24:7-10; Is9:6; Mal2:5; He7:2), and
He said, "Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days (Jn2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would give eternal peace to all men by giving His life.
Yet He said He did not come to give peace but a sword (Mt10:34-39) for which
He brought on persecution and encouraged those who conspired to put Him to death.
Remaining unwavering, however, He said, "It is finished (Jn19:30), as He died declaring that:
1) The eternal peace is in the Father alone;
2) Destroyed the devil, the seed of anxiety, the origin of sin (1Jn3:8); and
3) Flowed out His blood like a river, a flooding stream (Is66:12), to wash away the sins of all
men and give life and peace to them (Jn19:34; Lev17:11; Mal2:5).
The Father raised Him up and
Yeshua ascended to the throne in heaven as the Prince of Peace.
The Holy Spirit who flows from that throne (Jn7:38-39, 15:26; Rev22:1)
Comes to the souls of those who received the name Yeshua and
Gives them His peace.
Therefore, the man of the Spirit does not waver
When faced with trouble, hardship, persecution, famine,
Nakedness, danger or even sword (Rm8:35; 2Co2:8-10).
Instead, he puts effort to gather in the name Yeshua
To worship, praise, receive the word, repent and pray (He10:25), and
Goes out to preache the gospel of peace to the ends of the earth (Ac1:8; Eph6:15).
O Lord,
In these anxious times we live
We need not promises from the world for comfort and security
But the peace of Yeshua!
Let me and all those You have given me
Always be filled with peace like a river
Through worship, praise, word, repentance and prayer
Like the early Christians who were not shaken in spite of the persecution they faced!
Let us spread this peace to the hearts of those we meet! Amen.
