Just As Your Father Is Merciful

(Lk6:27-38)

God is merciful (Dt4:31).

He is merciful to whom He wants and

To those who know His mercy He is merciful all the more.

Faith is tasting His mercy, and

The life of this faith is showing mercy to others.

Mercy refers to showing compassion, having pity

As a father does for his children and as

Those in a similar situation feel for each other.

After he sinned, Adam was banished from the Garden

But God clothed him in garment of skin for

He had compassion on him.

Because of the groaning and the cry of Israel

God thought of them and delivered them from Egypt, after which

He gave the stone tablets to Moses on Mount Horeb and

Announced the name Jehovah and promised that

His mercy would be for a thousand generations and He would forgive them of their sins.

Those deserving punishment, however, would not be spared.

The temple where the mercy seat,

The atonement cover above the ark with the stone tablets were (Ex25:21)

Reminded them of God's mercy that

Brought them out of Egypt, the iron-smelting furnace (1Ki8:33-53) and:
1) For those who acknowledged the name Jehovah;
2) When they repent for their sins toward the temple He promised to forgive them;
3) He let the defeated and the captives return to the land.

The heart of the Law was for

Those who know God's mercy to show mercy to their neighbors ”

Especially the indebted, the orphans and the widows, and foreigners (Dt24:10-15).

Finally, by God's mercy, the Son of God came as man, that is, Jesus (1Ti2:5)

To rescue men from the hand of their enemy (Lk1:72), and

He said, "Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days (Jn2:19), because

Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,

He would show God's eternal mercy for all (Jn3:16) for

He came in the weakness of the flesh and thus was able to sympathize with men (He4:15).

As such, He had compassion on the multitudes of those who followed Him, and

Healed the sick and fed the hungry (Mt14:14; Mk10:47-52).

As He died, He said, "It is finished (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) At the height of the Son's suffering the Father's mercy was poured out onto Him (Mt27:46);
2) Condemned the devil, the archangel who is irrelevant to God's mercy (He2:14-16); and
3) Spilled out all His blood and water, pouring out His mercy for all men (Jn19:34).

The Father raised Him back to life and

Jesus sat on the heavenly throne, the mercy seat.

The Holy Spirit comes to those who have received the name Yeshua and

Establishes the throne of grace inside their souls for:
1) Those who call on His name are forgiven of their sins (Lk24:47);
2) In His name they are delivered from all curses (Mk16:17); and
3) In His name He lets the defeated and the captives return (Mt18:19).

Those who have been forgiven of their debts know the shame of a sinner (Mt18:33),

Those who have been hungry know what it means to be hungry,

Those who have been sick know how it feels to be sick,

Those who have tasted His mercy know how to show mercy to one another (Eph4:32; 1Pe2:3), for

When the Son of Man comes in His glory (Mt25:31-46)

He will remember what they had done for the least of them and

Repay them by seating them on the thrones in heaven.

O Lord,

Knowing our place,

God came as man and suffered to show mercy on us ” Yeshua!

Let us now have all the more mercy on souls who are headed to hell and

Those who are the least of us. Amen.
