For This Day

(Mt6:25-34)

God is eternal.

He is from everlasting to everlasting (Neh9:5), and

His word endures forever (Is40:8; 1Pe1:24-25).

As eternity refers to the present God who is the same yesterday, today and forever (He13:8),

Faith is knowing Him and longing for Him, and

The life of this faith is about living for this day before His present state.

For man, "this day" is important because

It is the day that I certainly exist, the day I can do something.

Yesterday's decision made today's "me" and today's decision will make tomorrow's "me".

While the Bible shows the difference between this day and tomorrow

Through the six-day creation (Ge1),

It also records the history of today's decision resulting in tomorrow.

The moment the living being Adam took the fruit which God forbade him (Ge2:17, 3:4-6),

His spirit died and his flesh was cursed, and he was banished from the Garden (Ge3:15-19, 24).

After being warned of the flood, Noah built an ark for decades, and

When the flood finally came and covered the entire earth he and his family were saved (He11:7).

Though Joseph was unjustly imprisoned for decades of his life (Ge39:9-20),

He was miraculously called by the Egyptian king and

Became second-in-command in a day (Ge41:41).

While the Israelites lived as slaves in Egypt for 430 years (Ex12:41),

They left overnight to never see the Egyptians again (Ex14:13) for

They became a kingdom of priests and a holy nation (Ex19:6).

For 40 years in the desert

God rained down bread from heaven for them each day and

They were to gather enough for that day (Ex16:4-6, 13-36).

God instructed them to fill a golden vase with an omer of manna and

Preserve it inside the ark (Ex16:34) of the sanctuary.

It was to remind them for generations to come that

God would provide them daily bread until their last breath.

Thus, on the day called, "this day," they were to choose life to live (Dt30:19) and

Choose whom they would serve (Jos24:15, 26).

Yeshua said, "Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days" (Jn2:19), because

Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,

The Father in heaven would give His children (Mt6:9)

Not daily bread for the flesh but the bread that will give eternal life (Jn6:31-35).

Yeshua commended His soul to the Father and

As He died He said, "It is finished" (Lk23:46; Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) After His death would live again and reveal the eternal God who alone is the same yesterday,
today and forever (He13:8);
2) Condemned the devil who as a creature wanted to be like God (Is14:12-15; Eze28:13; 1Jn3:8); and
3) With His eternal blood gave life to all men so that may live eternally (Jn1:14, 6:54).

He rose and ascended to the heavenly throne, and

The Holy Spirit came in the eternal name Yeshua and

Testifies that He is the same forever (Ac1:8; He13:8).

The man of the Spirit is he who only lives a day called, "this day."

Therefore, he does not dwell in yesterday,

Does not worry about tomorrow (Mt6:34), and

Does not put off the work that needs to be done this day.

For the heavenly Father will provide daily bread (Mt6:33),

Unlike the foolish rich man but like Zacchaeus and the thief (Lk12:20, 19:9, 23:43),

On the day called "this day," he makes the best decision for his soul to live and

Does the greatest work, that is, the work of expanding the kingdom of God (Mt6:33).

O Lord,

If we only had one day to live"¦

Whom shall we meet? Where shall we go? What shall we do?

Let us testify Yeshua until our last breath!

This is our sincere hope. Amen.
